Haven

Some of you following our blog know God gave us our daughter, Haven , 3 years ago through adoption. Today is a special day, her first day of school here in Kenya and her 5th birthday. The school children her age do not speak English , but  this does not stop her from bossing them around. She  told me this week that she is black and that Abraham ,a little boy in the village, is her brother. She walks around talking and answering us in jibber jabber....which she says is Swahili.

Yesterday ,while at church ,Haven was gripping onto my dress and crying because she didn't want to go to her Sunday school class. As I began to take her to church with me ,her friend Sandra,(who doesn't speak a word of English) begins to cry. I told Haven she was crying because she was leaving and Haven said "Fine. Ill stay" .The moment Haven  held her hand ,Sandra began to smile.

While going out to buy groceries today Haven walked around the house looking for change....she said she needed to bring it for all the people who didn't have any.
As a family ,we are one day at a time seeking where God wants us. Haven is just as much part of our ministry as any of us. We are so thankful God has given us such a treasure. Can't wait to see how He will use her  tender heart towards the people of Kenya.

Well today was Havens first day at school and her last. lol .With all the adjustments she is having to make already it was just too much for her right now. I guess we will end this day on a happy note.....time for birthday cake.
