Our First 2 weeks in Kenya

Our first 2 weeks in Mombasa, Kenya has been adventurous. Even going to the grocery store can be exciting when every single thing you know... has changed. We have spent time at  orphanages , schools, villages, and church. We are relearning how to drive, cook ,count money, pay bills, work the electricity, not feed the monkeys and much more.

The one thing that continues to come to my mind over and over is "To whom much is given , much is required."  You may drive for hours and see nothing but severe poverty. Despite all of these hardships, the people we have met have been more than kind. It is humbling when someone is stuggling day by day to feed themselves and yet they will offer you there last bit of food. It is humbling to sit next to a family in church with tattered,  dirty clothes and toes hanging far over there shoes and yet  manage to put there tithe into the basket.
All I can say is we are so blessed!!! We are thankful for this opportunity to learn from the Kenyan people and pray we will be a blessing to them

Not many people travel to a country where there is so much turbulence, so little comforts, and so much need to teach love, hope, and salvation. Your service is a witness to others. Especially to me, as I sit in my comfortable chair drinking my first cup of coffee...I remind myself to be grateful and humble - and to always keep in mind that you are confronting extreme poverty, disease, abandonment, and despair. You are always in our prayers and my heart. Love you!
